The Hepatitis A Vaccine protects against the Hepatitis A virus.
Hepatitis A is spread by contaminated food and water. It affects the liver.
Hepatitis A can cause jaundice, stomach discomfort, vomiting and diarrhea.
Ideally, the Hepatitis A Vaccine should be administered at least 1 month before travel. For lasting protection, a 2nd dose is recommended 6 months after the first dose in adults.
You cannot get Hepatitis A from this vaccine.

Accesa Hepatitis B Vaccine
The Hepatitis B Vaccine protects against the Hepatitis B virus.
Hepatitis B is spread by contact with the blood or body fluids of an infected person. It affects the liver.
Hepatitis B can cause jaundice, stomach discomfort, vomiting, diarrhea and fatigue.
Once contracting Hepatitis B, some people develop a chronic carrier state that does not go away and can lead to cancer or liver failure.
Ideally, the Hepatitis B Vaccine should be administered at least 1 month before travel. For lasting protection, a 2nd dose is recommended 1 month after the 1st dose and a 3rd dose is recommended 6 months after the 1st dose in adults.

The HPV Vaccine protects against a virus called Human Papillomavirus.
HPV is spread by sexual contact. HPV can lead to genital warts and anal cancer in men and women as well as cervical cancer in women.
For lasting protection, a 2nd dose is recommended 1-2 months after the 1st dose and a 3rd dose is recommended 6 months after the 1st dose.

Accesa Influenza Vaccine
The Influenza Vaccine protects against the Influenza virus.
Influenza, also known as the flu, is spread by droplets from coughing or sneezing.
Influenza causes high fevers, headache and body aches, fatigue and can lead to pneumonia.
The Influenza Vaccine is given once per year.
Because Accesa Health uses an inactivated ("dead") form of the Influenza Vaccine, you cannot get influenza from this shot.

The Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine protects against a virus called Japanese Encephalitis.
Japanese Encephalitis is spread by infected mosquitoes primarily in parts of rural Asia.

The Japanese Encephalitis vaccine is recommended for people who plan to spend time in rural parts of Asia (primarily for more than 1 month.

Although no Malaria Vaccine is currently approved in the United States, several prescription medications protect against malaria.
Malaria is a parasitic infection transmitted by the Anopheles mosquito. Malaria can cause anemia, chills, fevers, and body aches, liver failure and death. These symptoms primarily occur because of the destruction of red blood cells caused by this infection.
Because resistance patterns to malaria medicine vary around the world and because different medications can cause serious side effects in patients with other medical problems, it is important to get a malaria prescription from someone who is knowledgable about travel medicine and current travel advisories.
Malaria medications are taken prior to, during, and after a trip to an at risk area. These medications range in price from $10 for an entire prescription to hundreds of dollars.

The MMR Vaccine protects against the Measles, Mumps and Rubella viruses.

The Meningitis Vaccine protects against a bacteria called Meningococcus.
Meningococcal disease typically affects people in close quarters (e.g. college dormitories, military) as well as people with a weakened immune system.

Accesa Shingles Vaccine
The Shingles Vaccine protects against the Varicella Zoster virus.
Shingles is caused by a reactivation of the Varicella Zoster, or chickenpox, virus. Only people who have been exposed to the chickenpox virus can get shingles.
Shingles can cause a rash, fevers, headaches and more severe neurological symptoms. Some people who get the shingles go on to develop a long-term, painful neurological syndrome called post-herpetic neuralgia. It is more common in people over the age of 50.
A single dose of shingles is recommended after the age of 50.

The Typhoid Vaccine protects against a bacteria called Salmonella typhi.
Although typhoid fever is relatively rare in the US, it is prevalent around the world, particularly in areas where sewage decontamination is less advanced.
Typhoid fever is spread through food and water contaminated by Salmonella typhi. The bacteria infects the body and lives in the blood and intestines. Infected individuals shed the bacteria in their feces.
Typhoid fever can cause high fevers, stomach pain and a rash. Sometimes people may have minimal symptoms but are still contaminated with Salmonella typhi. Up to 1/3 of people who catch typhoid fever die from it.

The Varicella Vaccine protects against the virus that causes Varicella.
Varicella, or chickenpox, is transmitted through contact with infected individuals and generally causes a blistering rash, fevers, and fatigue. Rarely, it can cause a more life-threatening neurological illness.
Proof of Varicella immunity is usually required for people entering school or healthcare settings.

Accesa Yellow Fever Vaccine
The Yellow Fever Vaccination protects against the virus that causes Yellow Fever.
Yellow Fever is transmitted through infected mosquitoes and can cause fever, jaundice, bleeding and death.
The Yellow Fever Vaccine has been around for decades and is required for entry into countries in certain parts of Africa and South America. It provides protection for 10 years and a booster is recommended after that period of time.
The Yellow Fever Vaccination is currently approved for people 9 months of age and older. In addition to travelers, laboratory workers who deal with preparations of the vaccine strain should also be immunized.
Proof of Yellow Fever Vaccination is demonstrated by an International Certificate of Vaccination with an authorized Yellow Fever Provider stamp. Only certain facilities have completed the rigorous state requirements necessary to become an authorized Yellow Fever Vaccine provider. Accesa Health has official authorization from the State of California to provide this vaccine.
Side effects of the Yellow Fever Vaccination include mild aches and soreness for 3-5 days after the injection. Accesa Health does not administer the Yellow Fever Vaccine to infants, pregnant women, people with a weakened immune system, or anyone with a severe egg allergy.
